At the end of May 2014, Dunia Baru was about 10 miles from Sangeang Api when the volcano erupted. It was absolutely spectacular, and the crew captured these images of the plume as the volcano erupted.
En route to Bali recently, Dunia Baru again sailed past Sangeang Api, which is one of the most active volcanoes in the Lesser Sunda Islands. The yacht’s cruise director, Chris Hamilton, took these pics, below, which show that the island is once again beautifully fertile. The horses here are wild, and the cattle have been brought to this island for the grazing.
